Each and every day we make choices that shape our lives. We decide to go to sleep, to eat, to watch TV, and to read. In the same way, we make choices as to go to work, to school, or to stay at home. You may make choices not to do something. Sometimes those choices are more important than any others. What I want to do in this post is to help you see how to live your life without obligations.
I have made the commitment to watch my mouth. Your parents might have said this to you a time or two growing up. I am telling you this rings true in our lives today more than ever. I catch myself making statements that make me ill. I have to go to work or I have to go to sleep. The truth is that we don’t have to do anything. The obligations in our life are largely based on the result of the choices we have made in our life at some point.
Living a life with no obligations is not about being a misfit or not getting tied down. It is all about making intentional choices that shape our lives to be what we want them to be. Now, I know there are plenty of people who will say, some things you don’t choose. Those are what I call circumstances. Those are happenings. They are correct. some of these things come to us, not by our own choice. Disasters or illnesses come into our lives and we have no way of avoiding them. We do have a way of choosing what we do in response to those circumstances.
So, I would separate them into two categories. Choices that we initiate on our own accord and those that we initiate in response to situations or circumstances. Both categories shape our lives and how we live. The choices we make with respect to both categories of decisions allow us to live a life with no obligations. How are you going to live?
